PostSubject: We need another Grunge Revolution...   Mon 13 Nov - 16:33

I keep saying it...Seriously...Everything Sucks and is lame in Gen. Y, and No One listens, It's as if we're in some weird Timewarp or something where accepts Crap and praises it..and I'm the only one who realizes it...It pisses me off so much...Generation Y is full of Brats who have the lamest taste is music, and are Corporate Tool. I refuse to associate myself with them, Rather insulting that according to some stupid chart that because I was born In 1989, that I like the same things and have the same attitude as some of these people. Do I dress Like I'm Black? or As an Emo? Or wear Abercrombie and Fitch? NO...I am sick of how people sit there and accept crap as music, tv and movies, and follow all of these like blind clones....

I Feel I'm more like Gen. X in terms of attitude towards life and music and such..

Sorry..I just feel really angry about this stuff..

Well I don't think anyone really likes the music of genration Y except the mindless drones in the mid-west and the rich white people they're trying to imetate. I haven't met anyone I consider a decent human being that really likes the music from "generation Y." I don't know who's assuming us people from generation Y listen to that crap, it's all based on what you look act/like. Like I look and act kind of like a stoner, so people assume I listen to Led Zepplin and Pink Flyod and stuff like that. (While that may be true, I also listen to a lot of old school under ground rap, and hip-hop. And people who say "RAP SUXXX!" Don't actually listen to rap. It'd be like if you only listened to really shitty rock, and just decided that rock sucks.) But anyway, yeah no one assumes anyone listens to that crap you're talking about, and I don't really know anyone that does anyway.

(There actually a couple of new bands that I do like. The Artic Monkey and The Subways, both are from London and have an old school Punk Rock feel.)

OKay, let me point out a few things.

POISON - not grunge
NIRVANA - grunge era punk rock band

If you consider the package that Poison sold you in terms of values, sound, and ethics, then you would begin to puke as it is anathema to the "grunge" rock and roll. It's chicks and cheap sex, really stupid-ass cocaine and rock star drugs, and terribly mangled Man-rock.

The promo grunge rode on was do it yourself rock and roll, accessible to reasonable people who wanted change in their world. I'm sure many people have forgotten this, moved on, etcetera. But I assure you, grunge isn't dead - it just smells that way.

Grunge is equal parts of punk rock, blues, and workingman's rock. How do you sympathize with heavy metal machismo? That is the question grunge posed to the masses.

I apologise. The one book I read like a bible, Come As You Are, has a neat discertation on its beginnings.

i don't think today's music is that bad, except for the whole ghetto/gangster rap thing going on. bleh, i hate it with a passion idk why but i do. other then that i'll listen to anything(even coutry music though only a tiny bit). also i'm not a big fan of rock bands where all they do is scream loud and when they sing you can't even understand what they are saying

now one my favorite kinda music is ska, with people like reel big fish. and also rock bands, with my favorite being queen

Don't worry, bro. Despite my vast collection of music spanning different genres, my heart is in video games too.

Meh, I listen to what you might call 'emo' music, Taking Back Sunday, Sugarcult, Say Anything, My Chemical Romance, stuff like that. Doesn't make me emo, and it's good music, to tell the truth, catchy lyrics, hell, MCR's new album is fantastic. Some of the newer music is good, you just have to find it....

I like pop music.

The Beatles, Pavement, Nirvana. Don't confuse the Beyonce's and the booty-butt cheex package for pop. Pop is that which harmonises, and hits you right in the soul.

Try a little soul music. Once you've heard the swinging sounds of Motown, you'll never look at these plastic babes the same. Don't limit yourself to stomp-box metal and roll. When you've heard everything in rock and roll, you will further understand why you enjoy what you do.

These times are strange, and we have to dust everything off and put something new together.

I'm into random things..everything from like 1964 to 1996-7ish..I drift...I love Disco, but I dig punk punk from the 70's as well. I love Hair Metal, but Grunge rules. I also love GOOD Old School Rap like Public Enemy and the Beastie Boys.

We do need something that blends well and is just awesome.
